Frequently Asked Questions

  • In-Person Lessons are offered anywhere of the clients choosing in the Gainesville, FL. area. Those interested outside of this area are welcome to sign up for Zoom lessons!

  • If you are interested in taking In-Person lessons, I have a guitar that can be provided during the duration of the lesson. However, I highly encourage my clients to invest in their own personal instrument(s) as this enables them to practice the concepts covered between lessons. For virtual lessons, unfortunately a guitar cannot be provided but it is not always necessary (though it is encouraged) to have a guitar/bass when covering Music Theory concepts.

  • I have developed a curriculum that starts at the very beginning, but the topics covered also branch out into advanced-level concepts. Consequently, lessons are aimed at benefitting students of all levels.

  • You can reach out to me anytime via the contact page or by email, phone number, or social media direct messaging. I aim to respond quickly, usually within one to two business days.

  • I develop my teaching style around the individual student. My goal is to understand what each student wants to learn and what will benefit them most musically. Lessons are tailored to their interests, skill level, and goals, helping them build strong fundamentals while also exploring the music they enjoy.

  • Music Theory is the study of musical notation, harmony, rhythm, melody, and form. In many ways, music theory is like a GPS. It helps musicians find the sonic destinations they are looking for, though it is not necessarily required to enjoy music or to play the guitar. That being said, most musicians benefit greatly from developing an understanding of Music Theory. To support this process, I have developed a course that begins with the fundamentals and gradually progresses into more advanced concepts, presenting theory in a clear and digestible way so students can build their knowledge and apply it musically over time.

  • To help keep students motivated and inspired, I incorporate regular checkpoints that focus on learning songs that are meaningful to them. During these lessons, students explore the history of the song and the artist, learn how to perform the piece on guitar or bass, and examine the underlying music theory by analyzing how the song was originally constructed. Through this process, students not only develop their technical and analytical skills but are also encouraged to apply the techniques used by their favorite artists in their own musical compositions.
